OUR AIM IS SIMPLE:
- Give people somewhere to go.
- Give people something to work towards.
- Give people people around them.
- Give people a reason to believe in themselves.

WELLBEING
FIGHTING BACK.
BOXING CAN BUILD MORE THAN FITNESS.
Physical activity can support mental wellbeing.
Research specifically examining non-contact boxing has found promising evidence of improvements in areas including anxiety, depression symptoms, PTSD symptoms, mood, self-esteem, confidence, concentration, strength, coordination and overall wellbeing.
A published review identified 16 pieces of literature examining non-contact boxing as a mental-health intervention and found promising results, while also highlighting limitations in the existing research and the need for stronger studies.
boxin90 does not treat mental-health conditions, and boxing is not a replacement for professional mental-health support.

RESEARCH
MOVEMENT MATTERS.
A recent umbrella review combining evidence from 63 studies, 81 meta-analyses and more than 79,000 participants found that exercise interventions were associated with reductions in depression and anxiety symptoms.
This research covers exercise more broadly, rather than boxin90 specifically.
At boxin90, we want to make structured exercise accessible to people who may otherwise struggle to afford it.

Knife crime and youth violence remain serious issues in England and Wales.

A DIFFERENT DIRECTION.
We don’t believe the answer is simply telling young people what not to do.
- We want to give them somewhere to go.
- Somewhere safe.
- Something positive to work towards.
- Positive people around them.
- A reason to leave the street behind.
Our boxing hubs give young people the opportunity to spend time in a structured, supervised environment with coaches, peers and positive role models. Boxing teaches controlled technique, discipline, respect and self-control.
Street violence and carrying weapons are completely different from supervised boxing training. Our aim is not to teach people how to fight on the streets — it is to give people a positive environment where they can learn, train, build confidence and make better choices.

ACCESS
SPORT SHOULD NOT BE A LUXURY.
Not every family can afford gym memberships, sports clubs, equipment and regular activities for their children.
We believe financial circumstances should not decide whether someone gets the opportunity to discover a sport they love.
That’s why our camps are free.
Our vision is to create more free boxing hubs across Leicester so that children, young people and adults can access sport, community and opportunity regardless of their financial circumstances.
FREE SHOULD MEAN FREE.
NO MEMBERSHIP FEE. · NO EXPENSIVE CAMP. · NO BARRIER TO GETTING STARTED.
COMMUNITY
NO ONE SHOULD GO WITHOUT.
Our hubs also provide free food for people in the community who need it.
Anyone is welcome.
Whether someone is struggling financially, needs something to eat after training or simply needs somewhere they feel welcome, our doors are open.
Our long-term vision is to combine:
FREE SPORT+FREE FOOD+COMMUNITY SUPPORTunder one roof.

BOXING THAT BUILDS SOMETHING.
boxin90 events take place approximately 2–3 times per year.

@boxin90_promotionsSOURCES & RESEARCH
Knife-crime statistics. Office for National Statistics, Crime in England and Wales: 48,774 police-recorded offences involving knives or sharp instruments in England and Wales in the year ending March 2026. This represented an 8% decrease from the previous year, and the level was 12% lower than the year ending March 2020. These are police-recorded offences for England and Wales as a whole and are not youth-specific statistics.
Boxing-specific research. A 2023 scoping review of non-contact boxing identified 16 pieces of literature and reported evidence of improvements in areas including anxiety, depression symptoms, PTSD symptoms, mood, self-esteem, confidence and concentration, while highlighting limitations in the evidence base and the need for stronger research.
Broader exercise research. A more recent umbrella review of exercise research, combining 63 studies and 81 meta-analyses with more than 79,000 participants, found that exercise interventions were associated with reductions in depression and anxiety symptoms. This is research into exercise generally, not into boxin90.
Research suggests physical activity and non-contact boxing may help support wellbeing. boxin90 does not treat or cure mental-health conditions, and nothing here is a substitute for professional support.
